What is Stage Verve?

Stage Verve is an ensemble of actors who will undergo an intensive year of training and performance. It is a unique program unlike any other offered in Melbourne.  It gives experienced and professional actors the opportunity of participating in a year of performance based projects where there is an emphasis on ‘learning through doing’. 

Stage Verve is an advanced and individualised actor training program.  It is designed for those who are actors and are looking to take themselves to the next level.  With a diagnostic emphasis, Stage Verve offers its actors the opportunity to be in constant dialogue with actor trainers and themselves in relation to their work. 

You will become Verve’s Performance Company ‘Company V’ where each unit of work will culminate in one or several showings which means that you will be performing on average every 6 weeks throughout the year.  This allows you the opportunity to refine your skills whilst at the same time engaging with yourself and other artists on a series of dynamic theatre projects.  It also allows many opportunities for you and your work to be seen.

Nowhere else in Melbourne can you receive invaluable personal coaching as well as the learning experience of working as part of an ensemble of professional actors.

FEATURES OF STAGE VERVE
Individualised Training Plan
Following an extensive diagnostic session, we will develop a written training plan and use it as a tool to ensure that your training objectives are being met throughout the year.  This will undergo regular review through tutorials throughout the year.
Rigorous Training
Stage Verve will have access to some of Melbourne’s most exciting and dynamic actor trainers and directors.  Led by Verve Studios’ Artistic Director, you will work with a variety of trainers who are specialist in their field including guest and master teachers. 
Constant performance
You will do up to 6 performances throughout the year, ranging from in house showings to full theatre productions in some of Melbourne’s most exciting theatre venues.
Industry Showing
Half way through the course you will participate in Verve Studios’ Industry Showing, a performance for Melbourne’s industry which is widely attended by Melbourne’s key industry professionals.
Individual Career Advice and Guidance
As a member of Stage Verve’s Company you will have access to specialized and individual career advice and guidance.  You will also receive information about acting opportunities as well as key industry events. You will also take part in our ‘Business of Acting’ seminar, designed to answer all of your industry related questions.
Regular tutorials with Specialist Skills Teachers
Throughout the year you will have regular tutorials with specialist skills teachers as well as our actor trainers.
Major Graduating Theatre Production
You will be a part of Verve Studios’ first company and as such we will really want to show you off.  The conclusion of the year’s work will culminate in a major production at one of Melbourne’s theatres.  You will undertake a full season that will be widely publicized.  This will be directed by a Melbourne director.
