The Professional Actor Studio – Film/TV
provides you practical experience working in front of a camera.
Working in a studio environment that prepares you for the versatility
expected of working actors, you will gain invaluable on camera
experience as well as equipping you to work as an actor in the
Film and TV industry. This program prepares you for the creative
and functional demands expected of you by teaching you to be professional,
to take responsibility for your creative growth and how to capture
audience imagination.
Term 1
Term 1 begins by studying acting technique, film and television
craft, script interpretation, voice work and defining core processes
from a variety of established approaches. You focus on the artistic
and technical demands for on-camera performance in film and television
and are introduced to the casting process and auditioning skills.
Through the exploration of techniques in the physical, vocal and
technical disciplines, you promote imaginative, emotional and
efficient use of your voice and body for acting on camera.
Term 2
During term 2 you focus on strengthening your acting skills and
techniques. Your on-camera work moves towards sharpening your
script analysis skills and advanced scene study deepens your sense
of emotional truth and moment-to-moment spontaneity, while you
remain connected to the demands of precise and detailed storytelling.
Your on-camera technique is enhanced. Audition techniques are
further developed with an emphasis on the current film and television
industry in Melbourne with workshops led by industry professionals.
Term 3
PROJECT: INDIVIDUAL SHOWREEL
In term 3 you focus on developing a deeper connection to acting
truth whilst consolidating your on camera acting technique. You
also gain a greater understanding of the physical and emotional
continuity needed to fulfill the technical requirements of a role
without hindering its performance value. The term culminates in
the selection of material, a rigorous rehearsal process and the
shooting of a showreel.
