Experienced actors will be able to explore both Advanced and Intermediate courses, while beginner actors can focus on suitable Beginner and Intermediate courses.

Physical Theatre Intensive - FILLING FAST!

An actor’s body is one of their most important tools. Working with a highly experienced physical performer, connect and develop your body as a tool for performance in an intensive exploration of physicality for the actor. Understand the importance of breath, flexibility and movement and use it to aid performance.
Topics Include:
• Strengthening the body as a tool for performance
• Understanding the body in character development
• Extended physical and spatial awareness
• Physical performance

Acting Studio 4: Performance Project
Wednesdays | 6.30pm – 9.30pm | 15/09/10 – 03/11/10 | $480
Work with a director to develop a piece of theatre for performance. Use skills such as text analysis, improvisation, impulse and character development to create a piece of work for an in-house showing.
Topics Include:
• Advanced scene and monologue development
• Collaborating to develop a show for performance
• Intense rehearsal and research
• In-house showing of rehearsed material

Actor's Voice Studio
Mondays | 6.30pm – 9.30pm | 23/08/10 – 11/10/10 | $440
Our Voice Studio explores one of the most vital elements to the actor’s craft, the voice. Exploring basic vocal technique for the actor, breath work, vocal resonance, vocal and articulatory muscularity and vocal fluency, this short course will increase the actor’s ability to fully express the truth of the text and the emotional integrity of the character.
Topics Include:
• Identifying habitual patterns
• Breath – freeing the breathing process
• Connecting breath to movement and sound
• Exploring vocal fluency on a variety of text

Comedy Studio
Mondays | 6.30pm – 8.30pm | 21/6/10 – 9/8/10 | $440
A course designed actors who feel less confident about “being funny” than being dramatic. Work thoroughly with contemporary comic monologues, exploring comic skills and uncover the structure of great comic writing. Focus closely on rhythm, timing, text and character in comic performance. Previous acting training essential.
Topics Include:
• Building confidence in comedy
• Comedic monologue analysis and development
• Developing original comedy material

Acting Studio 3: Scene Study

Further explore character analysis within intensive scene/monologue study. Strengthen your investigation of text and become confident with your choices, as you work through chosen scenes and monologues. Suitable for those who have completed Acting Studio 1 & 2 or equivalent.

• Advanced investigation of character
• Extended improvisation and impulse skills
• Advanced character development
• Advanced script analysis

Advanced Film/TV Studio
Tuesdays | 6.30pm – 9.30pm | 20/07/10 – 07/09/10 | $440
Delve deeper into Film and Television. Explore working as an actor on a professional film and/or TV set with an Australian Industry Professional. This course extends the exploration of the acting process for camera and the technical knowledge required. It is designed for those who have had experience in film/TV or Intro to Film/TV classes.
Topics Include:
• The Actor on set
• Acting for the camera from a place of truth
• Deconstructing a script and preparing for performance
• Ability to successfully participate in screen tests

Actor's Singing Intensive

Give yourself permission to experience the pure joy of singing! Explore the skills and techniques to develop vocal freedom and range. Explore different styles while focusing on the fundamentals of good technique, including sound production posture and breathing.
Topics Include:
• Vocal technique
• Range, tone, style
• Ensemble singing
• Physicality for the singer

Writing for Performance

This course provides creative writing knowledge on structure and story as the necessary foundation for scriptwriting. Explore the relationship between writing and performance while engaging with the challenges and demands of text development. Suitable for experienced actors wishing to create new and innovative work for the theatre.
Topics Include:
• Analysis of dramatic text
• Research into established and alternative scriptwriting practices
• Research, preparation and presentation of a first draft script
• Peer Evaluation
